Beware of fraudsters
There is now widespread targeting of clients of professional firms, and members of the public, by online fraudsters or scammers. The types of fraud or scam are increasingly varied. Very often, fraudsters will give the impression that they are solicitors or will claim to be from a particular firm of solicitors when they are not.
For security reasons, Shacklocks LLP will not request or provide bank details by email or telephone. We encourage clients and the public to be vigilant for hoax emails or telephone calls which mis-use the name or reputation of our firm. They may appear to come from Shacklocks or refer to Shacklocks but provide a link to a false website. They may give bogus bank account details or request your personal or bank details. Fraudulent emails can often, but not always, be spotted by the ‘suffix’ of the web-based email address they are sent from such as Gmail or Hotmail or by looking closely at the domain name of the website and may contain grammatical errors or spelling mistakes.
